As 2023 comes to an end I just wanted to jump on to wish everyone a lovely winter break. It has been quite a year and there have been many wonderful experiences, but to pick out a few: recording the CD of Edward Cowie’s music with pianist Roderick Chadwick was a big project and a lot of notes! Learning the tenor recorder for a run of George Benjamin’s new opera ‘Picture a Day like This’ at the Royal Opera House’s Linbury Theatre was such a unique experience. I’m also always inspired by all the young musicians of the National Youth Orchestra, Royal College of Music’s Junior Department, and the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, and proud of everything they achieve.
2024 is just around the corner and I want to try to be more organised and regular with my updates! Some exciting upcoming things include performing Mozart and Francaix concertos (one in Milton Keynes, the other in Hiroshima), a recital in Hamarikyu’s Asahi Hall in Tokyo, and Atéa Quintet joining the Music Summer School and Festival in Holt for a week in August.
Thank you all for a fantastic 2023, and here’s to an even fantasticker 2024!
