Hello and happy summer! I am delighted to share that next month (September 2023) a new clarinet and piano disc will be coming out: “Where the Wood Thrush Forever Sings”. This is a cycle of American bird portraits composed by Edward Cowie, and is in fact his third cycle (so far…) of birds of different continents. This one involves 24 birds and is split across 4 books of music, and 2 CDs.
Working together with pianist Roderick Chadwick was a real treat, and after a few London rehearsals we travelled up to Ayriel Studios, a gorgeous recording venue in the North York Moors, for a weekend of recording in February. The venue and surroundings were a perfect source of inspiration for this music, and walking out to the bleating of sheep was a real treat!
The CD will be available from 8th September – do keep your eyes and ears peeled, and meanwhile here is a little peek into what that recording weekend was like. Delicious!
